about

marco farroni leonardo (he/they) is a queer Black-Transatlantic-Caribbean-Dominican interdisciplinary artist based in Seattle, moving between dance, performance, oral history, and mixed media.

Their practice begins in the body, its memories, its ruptures, its inheritances, and extends outward toward the stories held in community. Through movement and listening, marco traces the textures of home, the body as an ever-shifting archive, and the drifting routes of the Black diaspora.

They hold a BFA in Dance from The University of the Arts and are currently an MFA candidate in Dance at the University of Washington.

marco is a 2025 Artist at the Center Resident, co-founder of Black Collectivity, and Wa Na Wari’s Seattle Black Spatial History Institute.

Their research lives in their queer Black-Transatlantic-Caribbean-Dominican body shaped by desire, friction, and survival in the intimate, vulnerable spaces where movement becomes a way of remembering, refusing, and orienting toward otherwiseness.

Their work has been presented at numerous cultural and performance venues across Seattle, including Velocity Dance Center, Wa Na Wari, Base Arts Space, 10 Degrees Arts, Spectrum Dance Theater, The AIDS Memorial Pathway, River, and 12th Ave Arts.

Artistic collaborations include nia love, dani tirrell, Nia-Amina Minor, Akoiya Harris, Milvia Berenice Pacheco Salvatierra, Naomi Macalalad Bragin, Makini, Gary Champi, Emily Branch, Noel Price-Bracey, Amanda Morgan, and Donald Byrd.
